After having been locked out of the station for years due to faulty computer systems, Vi'Ix has lain in a derelict state and has been floating in space for many years. It briefly passed out of the Atos system and into the Tellus system some three light years away, making it one of Atos' closer sister stars. It also passed the colonial systems of Geiss and Aurora, though both of these systems have recently become uninhabitable, and at the time of passing by they had both been abandoned. After this Vi'Ix then was swept by stellar winds back in to the Atos system, coming full circle, after three decades as an empty shell in space.
I, Commander Taki Kawada, original commander of Mission 69, have been given the privilege by the Technocracy of Universalis to re-activate the space station and put it into geostationary orbit around Micras. With a new crew and ground support, we will restore the space station to full functionality and make it an important component of space exploration.

Vi'Ix is now independent and has transitioned to the Bastion Union.
